The New York State Broadcasters Association (NYSBA) recently presented its Excellence in Broadcasting Awards with Red Apple Media talk WABC (770) receiving top honors in eight categories, including Best Morning Show for “Sid & Friends in the Morning.”
The station also claimed awards for Best Public Affairs Program, the all-day NYPD tribute special “Back the Blue”; Best Feature for Cindy Adams’ interview with Former Governor Cuomo; Best Live On Scene for coverage of the Columbus Day Parade; Best Use of Digital for “Radio Pays Tribute to Fallen Firefighter Timothy Klein”; Best Personality-Social Media for Curtis Sliwa’s “Closing of Lenny’s Pizza”; and Best Podcast for “Other Side of Midnight with Frank Morano and guest William Shatner.”
“Everyone at WABC Radio, both on-air and off, is passionate about what we’re doing and gives 100% every day. I am honored to work with John Catsimatidis and lead this team through his vision, restoring our heritage call letters to their iconic glory and bringing radio back to what it used to be and should be,” Red Apple Media/WABC President Chad Lopez said in a release. “Thank you to all of our employees, our listeners, and to the New York State Broadcasters Association for this recognition.”
