Sonos Unveils Reimagined App, Bringing Services, Content and Controls To One Screen.

Sonos has revealed its most extensive app redesign ever, creating a streaming experience that allows listeners to organize their favorite podcasts, playlists, stations, albums and more from over 100 streaming services on one customizable Home screen. The redesigned Sonos app allows users to bring their favorites front and center, and search for content like a podcast or song across all of their preferred streaming apps right from the customizable home screen.

“Today’s streaming experience has become fragmented across multiple platforms due to varied content offerings, algorithmic curation, or simply the desire to not recreate playlists in multiple locations,” said Maxime Bouvat-Merlin, Chief Product Officer of Sonos. “Our reimagined app delivers the industry’s most streamlined streaming experience by bringing a world of content and intuitive control to the Home screen.,” he said in the announcement.

The company says the new Home screen provides faster access to Sonos system controls with one easy swipe up, making tab to tab jumping a thing of the past. Users also get more ability to customize the app, by designing the Home screen to reflect how they listen by pinning rows of their favorite content and services, then moving, editing or rearranging them to their liking.

“After thorough development and testing, we are confident this redesigned app is easier, faster and better,” CEO Patrick Spence said. “It once again raises the bar for the home music listening experience, and sets up our ability to expand into new categories and experiences.”

The reimagined app supports all existing S2 products and will be available globally through a software update for the S2 mobile app and via an all-new web app on May 7. Sonos says the web app will replace the existing Sonos desktop controller and will be available alongside the redesigned mobile app.
