Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem has unveiled a multimillion-dollar ad campaign that warns undocumented immigrants in the U.S. to self-deport or risk deportation — and permanent banishment.

There are two versions of a new ad (one domestic, one international), which will run on various platforms, including radio, broadcast, and digital.

“If you leave, you may have an opportunity to return and enjoy our freedom and live the American dream,” Noem says in the domestic minute-long ad. “But understand this: Under President Trump, America’s borders are closed to lawbreakers. Follow the law, and you’ll find an opportunity. Break it, and you’ll find consequences.”

“If you are a criminal alien considering entering America illegally: Don’t even think about it. If you come here and break our laws, we will hunt you down. Criminals are not welcome in the United States,” Noem says.

In the international version, Noem says, “Try to enter illegally, you will be caught. You will be removed, and you will never return.”

Plans call for the ads to air in “various dialects,” DHS says, utilizing digital and social media to message immigrants who are already living inside the U.S. illegally — or thinking about trying to enter.

The ads will run “in multiple countries and regions in various dialects,” the release says. “Ads will be hyper-targeted, including through social media, text message and digital to reach illegal immigrants in the interior of the United States, as well as internationally.”
